We are committed to making Regina a leader in environmental sustainability, with a focus on achieving net-zero emissions and transitioning to 100% renewable energy by 2050. We believe that by taking proactive steps now, we can create a cleaner and healthier environment for all Ward 2 residents.

To achieve these ambitious goals, we will lead by example with municipal operations and collaborate with partners and the community to implement the Energy & Sustainability Framework approved in 2022.

Key investments in the 2024 Budget that will benefit Ward 2 include:

  • $150,000 for the Urban Forest Master Plan to enhance our urban green spaces in Ward 2 and improve air quality for residents.
  • $200,000 for the Climate Adaptation Plan to prepare our community for the impacts of climate change and build resilience.
  • $40,000 for the Pesticide Education Strategy to promote sustainable practices and reduce harmful chemicals in our environment.
  • $1.1 million dedicated toward the Geothermal Heating Facility, which is part of the $28.5 million investment over a 5-year plan to transition to renewable energy sources in Ward 2 and across Regina.

By prioritizing these investments and initiatives, we are committed to creating a more sustainable and livable Ward 2 for current and future generations. Join us in building a greener future for our community.
