Premier Scott Moe has introduced Building the Workforce for a Growing Economy: the Saskatchewan Labour Market Strategy, detailing the province's plan to ensure that Saskatchewan residents benefit from the jobs created by its economy and that Saskatchewan employers have the necessary workforce to prosper.

"A robust workforce is crucial for vibrant economies and thriving communities," stated Moe. "The Labour Market Strategy serves as our guide to securing a workforce that can keep up with the increasing demands and opportunities of our economy. Through strategic investments aligning Saskatchewan's workforce with industry needs, we are not only supporting investments in our province but also ensuring that growth translates into an improved quality of life for Saskatchewan residents."

The Labour Market Strategy focuses on three key pillars:

  • Preparing Saskatchewan Residents for Jobs
  • Recognizing Skills in Saskatchewan
  • International Recruitment

These pillars outline how the province is preparing individuals for current and emerging jobs, aligning training in post-secondary institutions with industry needs. This ensures a steady supply of skilled labor for employers while providing job seekers the opportunity to train for in-demand jobs. The Strategy also includes targeted programs to increase Indigenous engagement in the workforce and enhance opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Moreover, the Strategy facilitates newcomers to Saskatchewan in working in their trained field. The province is streamlining the recognition of credentials obtained outside the province and providing individual support to those navigating the credential recognition process.

When local workforce vacancies arise, the Strategy enables employers to expand their workforce through international recruitment using the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program. Newcomers play a vital role in filling in-demand jobs across the province.

The Labour Market Strategy showcases the government's efforts to address emerging labor needs in growing sectors like energy, mining, manufacturing, agriculture, and technology to build Saskatchewan's future.

"The Agricultural Manufacturers of Canada (AMC) are pleased to endorse the Saskatchewan Labour Market Strategy, sharing a common goal to promote, advocate, and collaborate for the growth of the agricultural manufacturing industry in Canada," said AMC President Donna Boyd. "Recognizing the critical role of a strong labor force in fostering robust economies and communities, our strategic investments and Careers in Ag initiative align with the province's commitment to matching the workforce with industry needs. AMC supports the strategy's inclusive approach, backing efforts to boost Indigenous participation and improve opportunities for persons with disabilities. We are united in removing barriers and fostering an environment where newcomers to the agricultural manufacturing sector can contribute their skills, enriching our industry."
