The City of Regina is pleased to announce the continuation of the second year of its three-year, $167 million water network expansion project. This critical infrastructure project will ensure Regina's water network can meet the growing demands of the city's population.

Project Details

The project involves constructing a new water pumping station with a solar power generation system, new water storage reservoirs, and an 8.4-kilometer water supply main. This expansion will allow the city's water network to accommodate a population of up to 310,000 residents, with the flexibility to be further expanded to serve up to 500,000 people in the future.

Benefits

In addition to ensuring a reliable water supply for current and future residents, the project will also contribute to Regina's vibrant community by planting additional trees and upgrading lighting along Ring Road.

Construction Schedule and Traffic Impacts

Construction for the 2024 season will take place between March and November. The project will be implemented in multiple phases, and motorists can expect regular traffic closures, lane reductions, and speed reductions along sections of Ring Road between Pasqua Street North and Ross Avenue. These measures are necessary to ensure the safety of both drivers and construction workers.

The first significant traffic impact will begin on March 20th with a two-week speed restriction on Ring Road between McDonald Street and Ross Avenue. The City will provide updates on additional traffic restrictions as construction progresses. Drivers are advised to watch for signage and use caution when travelling in these areas.
